Hayduke X Some bands attempt to ride the waves of chaos as if to tame the Void and make it their own. Not Suspiral. No, Suspiral is from the Void brought to horrible sentient life. The subtle, nasty undercurrents of horror burrow into you psyche, deeper and deeper with each note played. Favorite track: Antithesis of Time.

Grimmrobe Suspiral conjures hellish, void-breaking noise that exploits your worst nightmares.

Highly underrated. Favorite track: The Crimson Void.

Daaniel Zaa Incredibly obscure, after first listening I knew it is the kind of stuff I enjoy listening over and over again!

Ippocalyptica thumbnail
Ippocalyptica Usually, when bands extensively use repetition in their compositions, it represents a lack of ideas masquerading as “creating a hypnotic atmosphere”, but I am here to proclaim that this is not Suspiral’s brand of repetition. Through their four songs of dense and murky black-death metal, there is always a discernible direction for the listener, so even though this is undoubtedly hypnotic music, it will not - and cannot - put you to sleep (and it is great music for squatting and deadlifting). Chasm will, however, turn your brain into mush. The cavernous atmosphere here is suggested by the album title, and it is recommended that you listen to the album as a whole so that you feel the full experience of being sucked into, and then trying to escape, the Chasm. Favorite track: Antithesis of Time.

Featuring members coming from Spanish extreme underground bastions like Black Earth, Sheidim and beyond, Galician black/death metal entity Suspiral return with their mind-altering sophomore LP - coercing crushing black and death metal into repetitive, trance-inducing song structures designed to consume and annihilate the psyche. Drawing influence from extra-corporal states of consciousness and fringe extreme metal horrors like Beherit, Necrovore, and Sadistik Exekution on one end, and from kraut/psycheelic experimentalists like Ash Ra Tempel and Faust on the other, Suspiral have manipulated the darkest and most twisted strains of black/death metal to create a psychedelic aberration of unseen magnificence. A true embodiment of chaos an entropy distilled into sonic form to obliterate the mind and torment the flesh.
